League Cup Final beckons for heroic Bombers

Ashcombe Park Tigers v BBFC Under 9's

The Bombers bossed there way today to the finals with some of the best football of the season, both sides showed class and a great desire to win today, the first exchange was a From a goal kick, William picked up the ball from centre midfield put in a pin point pass to Toby, Toby then sliced open the left defences of Ashcombe down the left hand wing with his Sir Stanley magic, crossed the ball, Jo touched the ball on and Miles with great skill blasted the ball past the keeper and into the net.

Ashcombe a very well organised side didn't let this affect their play and stuck at the task giving us problems which were dealt with everytime by the ever solid defence of Luke,Kane and Aidan. Kane and Toby linked up on the left and piled more pressure on Ashcombes area but they too were up for the task. Some great goalkeeping from both sides kept the score line down and it looked like the 1st game was going to be a 0-1 win to us. the second half was much of the same and we got the second from a clever back header from a Miles Rory throw in off William, it fell beautifully at Max's left foot with only one conclusion anther goal for the Bombers. 0-2. Well deserved winners for the first match.

The second match started with pace and intent from both sides, Ashcombe had a succession of corners which the Bombers failed to deal with, before you could blink it was 3-0, the Bombers trailing kept their heads up and went about the game in the same manner as the first, from a Bombers corner the ball fell to Luke who produced a thunderbolt shot skimming every player and bursting the net. The boys were back in the game, then again we failed to defend another corner and Ascombe scored another. Max was unlucky with a brilliant left footed curling ball which seemed destined for a goal but again top goalkeeping from Ashcombe kept the Bombers still searching for another. William and Joseph combined to produce chances, Kane had some excellent runs on the left wing. The equaliser came a few minutes from time with William, Max both having shots and eventually Joseph got hold of the ball and stroked it past the diving Ashcombe keeper. All square with 4 goals a piece. Now it would be down to a nail biting finish with penalties to produce the finarlie. Ashcombe very cleverly choose to shoot against the on coming sun, their keeper was dressed for the job with a cap, Zachary was under pressure with the sun blazing in his eyes.

Ashcombe stepped up scored 1-0

Penalty 1. William stepped up hit a sweet shot to the keepers right but bounced off the post 1-0

Ashcombe stepped up their player blasted the ball to Zach's left hand side but Zach pulled off the save and confidence grew.

Penalty 2. Toby stepped up, struck the ball sweet and equalled the score. 1-1

Ashcombes turn, Zach got a hand to the shot but the ball crossed the line, 2.1

Penalty 3. Kane stepped up blasted a clean shot that hit the underside of the bar and and bounced away. 2-1

Ashcombe scored their next to make it 3-1

Penalty 4. Luke with his usual confidence had no trouble sending the keeper the wrong way to make it 3-2

Ashcombe next was there biggest most powerful player of the day, he was sure to score??? Not according to Zach's rules and he again saved the shot, our hero!!! 3-2

Penalty 5. Max left foot placed the ball in the back of the net to make it 3-3

Now sudden death time.Ashcombe to take, their player hit the ball sweet enough but was no match for our star in goal, the power of the shot and the sun in his eyes didnt put off our very own Sorrensen, what a save!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The manager had a difficult choice to make, who next? Joseph stepped up, took 3 steps back, ran towards the ball striking it to the keepers left beyong his reach 3-4.

Bombers left the pitch singing wembley wembley!!! The best boys won today in a highly competitive match, well done chaps a great game to watch, be proud be blue cuz we are the Bombers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
